A Time to Kill, a new play, is opening on Broadway this season – October 20th to be exact. It’s based on the best selling John Grisham book of the same title and it has an amazing cast to boot: Tonya Pinkins, Sebastian Arcelus, and Patrick Page, to name a few.

John Grisham’s book has “captivated readers with it’s raw exploration of race, retribution, and justice,” and now it’s time for one of YOU to also be captivated… but on Broadway.

So, to enter to win a pair of tickets, all you have to do is reply with your favorite John Grisham novel, follow my Tumblr, or reblog this post.

Winners will be notified next Monday! Until then: don’t forget to follow the show on Twitter here

even if you’re little you can do a lot

A little over a week ago, the company I work for had their annual ‘offsite company meeting’ down at the Crosby Hotel. We reviewed the last year and looked ahead to what was coming during the next theatre season. We reviewed the beginnings of the company and how far we’ve come. I say “we” carefully because I’ve only been there for 8 months.

At the end we were shown a slide show that ended with the above graphic as a closer. It’s a quote from one of our shows with the names of all the shows the company has worked on in the last 3 years and all of our names lettered over (under?) it.

We all got copies and then we had champagne in the next room. It was pretty cool.

It was pretty awesome to feel apart of a company that’s done so much in such a short time, with some awesome people.

Something else Broadway related: You have a few days left to enter to win tickets to Romeo and Juliet… starring Condola Rashad and Orlando Bloom! Follow here and reblog this post

All The Way Back in 2007…

When I was studying abroad during the summer in 2007, I saw a play before I came home called “In Celebration” starring Orlando Bloom. I’d never really been an Orlando Bloom fan in particular, but I thought, how many more times will I have the chance to see Orlando Bloom on stage? Probably not many.

And I was right.. not many have presented themselves. Until now… this fall a new and re-imagined revival of Shakespeare’s classic, Romeo and Juliet will be playing at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.  Orlando Bloom will (obviously) be playing Romeo alongside Condola Rashad (who killed it in last season’s The Trip to Bountiful) as Juliet. The fantastic Chuck Cooper and Jayne Houdyshell are also apart of the stellar cast.

I am so, so excited for this revival. For one I’ve never seen a professional production of R&J, and with this cast…. WOW! I’ll be seeing it sometime in September and I wanted to give one of you guys a chance to see it too. In the next week or so I’ll be putting together a post to be tweeted/reblogged/etc!

Until then, I leave with you this picture of the charismatic Orlando Bloom from back in 2007:
